I'm not doing very well in keeping up to date on my blog. I have been so busy with people. More so here than in NYC with millions of persons. Go figure!
I finished house-sitting for the Peevys and got to spend a few nights back 'home' with Deanna. It was really nice. We finally got to spend some time talking and just hanging out at home. I am so blessed to be living with Deanna. She is so gracious opening up her home to me.
VBS this year was a lot of fun. The theme was Boomerang Express. Lots of kangaroos and Aussie facts, as well as songs, games, food, and fun. I got to lead the Missions rotation and decided to substitute the info included in the curriculum with home videos of our own missionaries from the church. The kids seemed to enjoy hearing about the families, especially from the m kid's point of view. 3 of the m kid's were visiting grandparents in Rogers that week and actually got to attend VBS. I was very honored when JD, one of the M kids, told me that I was doing a great job leading the missions portion. I take that as high praise! We also talked about the kick-off of the FBC Food Pantry in July. The kids brought in food items to help stock the pantry. They liked it when I told them that I needed their help since they are experts on what kids like to eat. They took that very seriously. It was a great week.
That was a very busy week for me, since besides working at VBS each morning, I had taken on 2 different house & pet sitting jobs (on opposite ends of town, no less). A friend of a friend called to see if I could fill in for her house/dog sitter who had to cancel a couple of days before the family was to leave for a week. I went to the house on the day before they left and instantly fell in love with their dog, Bella. She is such a sweetie!!! I also ran back and forth to take care of Clyde's little angels (smile). I was very blessed that Mary Beth offered to let those dogs out in the early mornings and I could take care of them the rest of each day.
I got to stay home at Deanna's for a little over a week before heading out for another sitting job. During my time home, JD and Cora, Deanna's grandkids visiting from Las Vegas, have been staying with us off and on. They went with me and Jet (the dog) for a walk one evening. I have really enjoyed both of the kids. I hope I get to be around them more before they head west again.
I visited Dr. Bob to get established with a doc here. We had a good consultation. I like his office and the workers there. I'm in the process of getting all my records sent to them. I agreed to try a new med for my cholesterol. It makes me very tired, but I'm determined to try everything I can to be healthy and strong to be able to serve as I need to.
I'm having fun with trying new recipes. I hope to have more time to experiment in the next few weeks. I'm having a blast getting to cook in REAL kitchens after 2 years in my NYC make believe kitchen-corner.
Oooh, and there's a new Neighborhood Market opened up in town that sounds like a mini Whole Foods type store. I can't wait to check it out! I'm soooo excited!
Our book review/study on Monday nights is going well. We are enjoying the book and having great discussions. I love the other ladies in the group. It's fun to meet new people and find things in common. God has bazillions of puzzle pieces that He has all figured out. It's humbling to see how He puts it all together.
Well, June was very busy and fun. Time is moving along quickly. There's much getting done and much to do. And I'm feeling very blessed every day. What an awesome God we serve!
